If cabin fever has you itching for fresh air and time well-spent outdoors – rejoice –  Lake Geneva’s Annual Winterfest is just around the corner.  The whole town of Lake Geneva wakes from hibernation to enjoy a festive weekend of snowy activities that are sure to cure your winter blues.   Taking place January 29th through February 2, enjoy a weekend jam packed with activities the whole family can enjoy, including but not limited to:

  • Helicopter Rides
  • Human & Dogsled Races
  • Winter Beach Party
  • Magic Shows
  • Soup Tasting
  • Bonfires
  • Live Music
  • Judging of Ice Sculptures
  • A 5k and 10k walk/run race

US NATIONAL SNOW SCULPTING COMPETITION

Lake Geneva’s annual Winterfest gives patrons the unique opportunity to watch the most talented ice sculptors in the world create magnificent piece of art right in downtown Lake Geneva.  The sculpting begins at 11:00 am on Wednesday January 29th at the Riviera and will continue till Friday January 31st at 5:30 pm.   Watching teams work first hand as they transform their 9 foot tall blocks of snow into whimsical statues is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Winners of the competition will be announced on Saturday February 1st at 3:00 pm in the Riviera Ballroom.  The champion, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded their prizes along with a People’s Choice Award.  Enjoy food, live music, and even a magic show leading up to the awards ceremony.  Past winners have included everything from Rapunzel letting down her hair from a flowing tower, to couples dancing, to mythical dragons.  The ice statues are always mesmerizing and always different from years past. This is a unique experience that defines Lake Geneva’s Winterfest.

Grand Geneva Winter Carnival

Also occurring on Saturday February 1st is Grand Geneva’s Winter Carnival.  This event takes place at the Grand Geneva Mountain Top and includes everything from ski and snowboarding competitions to demonstrations put on by the ski patrol.   There’s even an ugliest ski-wear competition. Also a variety of games will be offered for children and adults alike – in the past the games have included human bowling, treasure hunts, and a water balloon launch.  Raffle tickets may also be purchased for a chance to win everything from overnight hotel stays at the Grand Geneva to free movie theatre tickets.  The magical day ends with a brilliant fire works display at 8 pm.  Admission is free, visit Grand Geneva’s website for more information.

Winterfest Road Race Series 2014

Time to bust out those tennis shoes and gear up for the 2014 Winterfest Road Race.  Runners can participate in either a 5k or a 10k race that will start at 10:15 am on Saturday February 1st.  Hosted by Lake Geneva Sports, the race will start at Library Park and wind through beautiful downtown Lake Geneva.
